Summary: Zeno is built with a local-first architecture. Your tasks, daily routines, commitments, and schedules stay strictly on your device by default. We do not sell your personal data or track your activity across other apps.
1. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use Zeno, we process the following information:
- Local Routine & Schedule Data: Task titles, time blocks, categories, streak history, and wake-up times. All of this data is stored in a local SQLite database directly on your device.
- Account Information (Optional): If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive basic authentication credentials (such as your Google user ID and email) via Firebase Authentication to manage secure cloud backup and multi-device sync.
- Conversational AI Input: When you chat with Zeno to generate or adjust your schedule, your specific text prompt is sent to Google's Gemini API to produce structured time blocks. Prompts are processed strictly to serve your scheduling request.
2. Android Device Permissions
Zeno requests only the permissions necessary to deliver its core features:
- Overlay Window (`SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW`): Enables the optional interactive floating companion mascot on your screen.
- Audio Recording (`RECORD_AUDIO` / `FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE`): Used exclusively when you interact with Zeno via voice input to schedule or complete tasks. Audio is never recorded in the background.
- Alarms & Notifications: Allows Zeno to schedule native wake-up alarms and gentle notifications for your daily time blocks.
- App Usage (`PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS` - Optional): Used strictly on-device to help you balance your focus and daily routines.
3. Third-Party Services
We work with select, industry-standard third-party providers:
- Google Firebase: Used for secure user authentication and Google Sign-In.
- Turso: Cloud database infrastructure used for encrypted remote schedule sync when signed in.
- Google Gemini API: AI engine used to parse conversational requests into time-blocked schedules.
4. Data Ownership & Deletion
You retain full ownership of your data at all times:
- Local Data: You can clear all local routines, tasks, and settings at any time from the app's Settings > Danger Zone, or by uninstalling the application.
- Cloud Data: If you use cloud sync, you can delete your account and all associated cloud data directly within the app or using our Live Account Deletion Portal.
5. Children's Privacy
Zeno is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
